Victory at Oak Arbor – existing location. This is # 1 on the map.
Victory at Deep Forest – new location. This is # 2 on the map and would replace the existing location on Victory at Tall Pines. The esplanade at the new location is wider and has more open space to work with than the existing location. The existing location also has two traffic signs that are at the edge of the esplanade as well as trees that are only a few feet away from the end of the esplanade.
Antoine at Deep Forest – new location. This is # 3 on the map and would replace the existing location on Antoine at Victory. This new location is where IF homes on Antoine begin when entering the neighborhood on the south side. There is no commercial signage to compete with and there is open space at the end of this esplanade. This esplanade also has an irrigation system that can be tapped into for landscaping in front of the sign.
Antoine at Arncliffe – new location. This is # 4 on the map and would replace a sign that had been on Antoine at Green Falls. The original sign was removed a number of years ago when it was damaged in an accident. A few years later, the width of the esplanade at Green Falls was reduced when a turning lane was added for Eisenhower High School. The esplanade on Antoine at W. Gulf Bank was not considered due to the surrounding commercial signage and the overall appearance of that intersection.
Brick Walls in Section 1
W. Little York at Deep Forest – Left Hand Side
W. Little York at Deep Forest – Right Hand Side
W. Little York at Gum Grove – Left Hand Side
W. Little York at Gum Grove – Right Hand Side – a brick wall would be built between two of the existing columns to tie them together.
The existing brick walls and columns will be pressure washed. The paint on the brick walls in the columns will be a lighter color than what is used in the current graphic.
Notes
The proposed entrance signs on the Antoine and Victory esplanades will be single sided.
The proposed dimension of the four monument signs on the Antoine and Victory esplanades is currently 5’ 6” H x 12’ W. They will require permits from the city of Houston. The city will review the size and placement of the monument signs in order that the signs do not restrict the visibility of the turning traffic.
The staggered letters I and F used on the columns of the monument signs and brick columns come from the original marketing of Inwood Forest in the 1960’s & 1970’s. Ads referred to The Wonderful World of IF.
The Inwood Forest lettering and three trees with the swirl, or sideways S, beneath them were developed by the late Charlie Crain who was an IFCIA board member and then president from 2002 to 2007. They were used on the cover of a handbook he put together for new IF residents.
The estimated cost of this project is approximately $80,000. IFCIA has capital funds in reserve that will be used to pay for this project.
