Please see attached new Inwood Forest CIA Heavy Trash Policy, which has now been adopted, officially recorded, and is also available in Vantaca. The policy was put in place to help keep Inwood Forest clean and prevent heavy trash, yard waste, contractor debris, and move-out trash from sitting at the curb for weeks or months at a time.
The City of Houston has reduced Heavy Trash and Tree Waste collection to six times per year, during even-numbered months. Inwood Forest’s scheduled collection remains the 4th Monday of those months. Our next collection is Monday, October 26. Heavy Trash may be placed at the curb beginning at 6:00 p.m. the Friday before collection and no later than 7:00 a.m. on collection day. Items placed out before that window or after City collection has already occurred are considered an impermissible set-out and must be removed.
The City has also changed how yard waste is collected. Yard waste was previously collected separately by rear-loader trucks. That separate collection has ended, and resident-generated yard waste is now collected with scheduled Heavy Trash service. If you do your own yard work, please follow the City’s preparation requirements or use one of the residential drop-off locations if you do not want to wait until the next collection date.
If you hire a landscaper, tree service, roofer, remodeler, or other contractor, the City expects that contractor to remove and properly dispose of the debris they generate. Residents should make those arrangements with the contractor at the time of service rather than leaving the material at the curb for City collection.
The policy also addresses move-outs, evictions, and property trash-outs. Those situations do not make the resulting debris eligible for City collection simply because it has been placed at the curb.
Our goal is simple: keep trash from sitting at the curb and keep Inwood Forest clean.
Please take a few minutes to review the policy attached before the next collection date.
